Aion Classic is going to launch tomorrow on June 23rd, letting us relive our favorite, nostalgia-filled moments.

 
 

NCSOFT revealed this week that they will finally be releasing Aion Classic in North and South America. If you're not already familiar with this, much in the same vein of WoW Classic and Old-School Runescape, this is a retro version of Aion that will take you back to the early days of the server and some of the first expansions and adventures created for the MMORPG. So far it's been a hit in Europe as players have flocked to go relive the way the game used to be, and now players in the west will be able to experience it as well. Trying to emulate that success, in Korea, Aion Classic was launched, with its original features from 2009, and this move has made it match Guild Wars 2 in revenue, and even today it is keeping up with Lineage 2, based solely on its Korea server.
 
The grind is a defining trait of a good MMO game, and Aion does not disappoint. With its gear progression being so consistent, having that upgraded armor or sword makes you truly stand out and have a feeling of accomplishment, because you truly have earned it.
 
That launch date is specific to the Americas. If you’re unfamiliar with Aion, it released back in 2009. However, this Aion Classic is bringing several quality of life improvements. You’ll also recognize some early dungeons. Additionally, only four of the original classes will be available to play. Each class includes two subclasses. Progression will be at a moderate pace in keeping with the original game. Additionally, Aion Classic will have a subscription-based model for players as well as a free to play option. You’ll be able to buy Siel’s Aura with real money which you then use to buy subscriptions in 30, 90, or 365 day increments. Additonaly, a 3-day pass is available.
 
Regarding the free version, this will be available for everyone. However, free players will gain experience slower than subscribed players. Aion Classic will also include a battle pass called the Daeva Pass. This battle pass will include extra quests and rewards, and its own premium currency, Quna. You can use this Quna currency to purchase cosmetic and consumable items, account services, and unlock the premium Daeva Pass tier.
