Madden NFL 21 News Guide: Release Date, Cover Athlete, Features, PS5 and Xbox Series X, Cross-platform play and more
It has just a few months since the release of Madden NFL 21, it is better to grasp everything about MUT 21. This article is going to talk about Madden NFL 21 Release Date, Cover Athlete, Features, PS5 and Xbox Series X, Cross-platform play and more.
'Madden 21' release date
MVP Edition: Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2020.
Worldwide release: Friday, Aug. 28, 2020.
This follows a similar formula EA Sports pulled last year for "Madden 20." You can purchase a different version of the game with some additional features and play a few days early. And if you have EA Access, Origin Access or Origin Access Premier, then you'll likely be able to play "Madden 21" on Aug. 20, but only up to 10 hours of game time.
Madden 21 platforms
We know for sure that Madden NFL 21 is coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X, and PS4, PS5 and PC versions are all but certain as well. The game will also support Xbox Smart Delivery, meaning that those who buy the Xbox One version will get the upgraded Xbox Series X version for free. To take advantage of this offer, you'll need to buy the Xbox One game by December 31, 2020, and upgrade to Series X by March 31, 2021.
Madden 21 cover star: Lamar Jackson says hi
Madden 20 cover vote winner Patrick Mahomes smashed the Madden curse in picking up this year’s Super Bowl MVP award, but EA never repeats its cover stars - so someone new will front Madden 21. Specifically, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. A shock play-off defeat to the Titans crushed his Super Bowl hopes, but he was nonetheless the league’s best player during the regular season, and his mix of arm accuracy and ridiculous ground speed are perfect videogame attributes. Remember Michael Vick’s cheat-player years? Jackson is even better.
Cross-platform play
As things stand, Madden players can only face off against those using the same hardware as them. This has been the standard in gaming forever, but the barriers are starting to break down as games like Fortnite and Rocket League, not to mention the latest Call of Duty, have allowed cross-platform multiplayer. One problem for Madden is that each platform has their own MUT Auction House, with different values for cards that could create imbalance between rosters. A common market place for cards would be an amazing addition to make for Madden 21, while the expanded player pool of cross-platform play could create improvements for competitive and casual players alike.
