Can you get married in The Elder Scrolls Online? Of course you can. Here are some tips for you.
How To Get Married
Currently, only players who have the Rings of Mara, currently found only in the Imperial Edition, can get married. The Rings of Mara item needed for the Ritual of Mara.Pair up with whomever you wish to marry, and visit a Shrine to Mara in any of the major starting towns. Once there, have one person equip the pledge by dragging it onto their action bar, turn, look at their companion, and initiate the ritual. A prompt will appear for both players, and, if agreed upon, they will float in the air briefly, and then be married. Totally normal.
Getting married is a two-sided process. You can marry absolutely any species and gender, although they must be from the same faction as you. You’ll need to find another player, either by meeting them in the world of Tamriel, or via somebody you know in real life who also plays the game. The player you would like to marry will have to follow you through the rest of the marriage process.
Marrying in TESO comes with benefits as it provides both partners with a 10% Bonus XP, as long as they’re Online and wearing the wedding ring called Ring of Mara, which will have their names engraved on it. Cute!
How To Get Divorced
In Skyrim, marriage is forever. That means there is no divorce, and death does not end a marriage either. You can never leave your spouse for another, or re-marry after being widowed. That said, I believe the question here is a bit mis-phrased. By specifying "before I get married", I think the asker is actually looking for how to call off the wedding. This can effectively be done by simply not showing up at the temple, at the appointed time. Then, go back to your betrothed and tell them you're no longer interested. After this point, you should be able to choose another partner. Alternately, you can call off the marriage during the ceremony itself as well. However, the previous statement still stands - once you've said your "I do"s, it's a done deal forever. (Or, until you reload to a previous save.) If you're playing on PC, you can use the Console to reset the quest and remarry. Source Remove any Amulets of Mara from your inventory. Enter the following into the console: setstage RelationshipMarriage 10. Purchase an Amulet of Mara from Maramal, and complete the quest as usual—wear the amulet, find a spouse, agree to marry, and have a wedding.
