Where to Find Gas Cans in Fortnite

Gas Cans can reliably be found in Gas Stations in Fortnite. Players will often find several in the station's maintenance shed with tires and tools and occasionally a vehicle or upgrade bench. Visually, players will be searching for a small red can with a nozzle that can up picked up and added to their inventory. Of note, the large blue drums often found around Gas Stations are not Gas Cans. Additionally, Gas Cans are often found in sheds and outhouses. Previous challenges have required players to deal damage with exploding Fortnite gas pumps or gas cans, which is particularly tricky as you need to get an opponent or NPC near enough to be caught in the blast, then make it explode at the right time. Thankfully it's much easier to simply blow up a gas pump in Fortnite, so find one of the gas stations then damage a pump until it ignites and blows up. Job done!

 

How to Use Gas Cans in Fortnite

The best place to find a Gas Can in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1 is at a gas station. There are usually a couple of them in the maintenance shed along with tires and tools, and sometimes an upgrade bench and/or vehicle. To be clear, you’re looking for the small, red refueling cans that you can pick up and add to your inventory. The large blue drums sometimes found in the backyards of gas stations are not Gas Cans. Neither are the Gas Pumps.

 

To complete the weekly challenge, players can toss a Gas Can at enemy players and shoot it while it is in the air, and the Gas Can will explode as long as the shot lands before the Can reaches the ground. If they got the timing right, this should damage the opponent in Fortnite. Alternatively, players will need to carefully place the Gas Can near an unsuspecting opponent with perfect timing to blow it up and cause them damage. This will complete the weekly quest for damaging an opponent. For truly daring players, they can ride on the thrown Gas Can as well.

 

Once you’ve found and collected a Gas Can, you need to damage an opponent or player-built structure by detonating it in order to complete the seasonal quest of more or less the same name. You can throw the Gas Can at an opposing player and hope they stand still long enough for you to shoot and ignite it, but this is a dangerous (if impressive) way to complete the quest. It’s much easier to damage a player-built structure, although it does have to have been built by an opposing player. The wording of the quest makes it sound like any player-built structure will do, but we tried that and it didn’t work.
