If you are playing Call of Duty Warzone & COD MW, the most basic thing you should know is how to mount your weapon. With weapons usually dropping without attachments, you'll want to stabilise your gun in any way you can. This guide will help you mount your weapon easily.
How to Mount Weapon in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
The mechanic is simple enough, once you know the basics of how it works. Basically any flat surface is available for weapon mounting. All you need to do is get near it. With the typical form of cover, that of chest high walls, that means getting behind it in a crouched position. Alternatively you can look for walls or doorways that would work well for leaning around. Whatever the surface is, if you’re near it you should see a tiny grey indicator showing that you can use it to weapon mount and lean. Once you’ve found your spot and gotten into the right position just aim-down sights (ADS) by holding the left trigger then press the melee button to mount. This should be L3 or clicking the left thumbstick, but options can be changed so just be sure you use the right one. Once you click or press it you should snap to the surface. Keep holding ADS and you’ll stay on there and can move around, firing at will.
How to mount your weapon in Warzone
Mounting your weapon will let you position your weapon on the cover in front of you to help negate some recoil. It's worth remembering that while it'll stabilise your weapon, it will reduce your mobility considerably. With that in mind, it's easier than you may think. If you're on PC, you'll be able to mount your weapon around corners and on windows by just pressing Left Click when the prompt appears. On console, it's tied to the melee button when you're aiming down sights. For default control schemes, that's clicking in your right thumbstick while aiming.
Why should I mount?
The primary benefit of mounting is that it removes the majority of recoil when firing. Exact figures are difficult to judge, but our tests suggest you can expect around 90% less recoil. Of course, this varies greatly depending on the weapon used. This recoil deduction is highly advantageous in Warzone, as it allows you to take longer range engagements with less specialized weapons. For example, a medium-range AR like the M13 can become a long-range laser beam when mounted with the right attachments. And with high recoil weapons like the RAM-7, AK-47, and PKM, it becomes far easier to apply damage over long distances.
