How to Complete Plant Wiretaps to Monitor IO Communications

As part of the Fortnite Resistance quests, you’re tasked to plant wiretaps to monitor IO communications across three different locations. This quest is unlocked automatically after you’ve completed the week four of Resistance quests.

 

Let’s get into the steps. First, you need to establish a Device Uplink near Command Cavern, the Fortress, or Loot Lake. I went for Loot Lake, but all three are somewhat close to one another, so it’s up to you. For this specific location, you can establish the device right at the center, just next to a rock and close to the cabin.

 

There are a total of 15 wiretap locations, each of the five locations has three wiretaps that you can place. It's up to you to decide which ones you'll visit and in which order. The wiretaps can be found at Catty Corner, Lazy Lake, Defiant Dish, Dockside Dish, and Dinky Dish. The most efficient route if you're trying to do this in one match only is to go to Catty Corner first, then head to Lazy Lake and, at last, place your final wiretap at Defiant Dish.

 

You have to plant three wiretaps to finish this quest and there five different locations you can do this at. However, while that might sound easy, as each location has three places to put a wiretap, you can only place one wiretap at each location - as soon as you place one it will fill each the three spots. So you'll actually need to visit three places - the 'different key locations' referring to the larger area, not the wiretaps themselves. Obviously, in case you haven't guessed yet, the wiretaps themselves look like that blue outline up there - find one, interact with it and then move on to the next until you've placed all three and you'll be done.

 

Head to the IO's main base of operations, Command Cavern. The site to plant the Wiretap is above ground on the western mountainside of Fortnite Pinnacle Peak, next to a red and white radio tower and some IO equipment. Plant the Wiretap and get out before the Imagined Order suspects anything.

 

The next Wiretap location in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 can be found to the east of Command Cavern in The Fortress. While it's possible to run down the mountain to the second Wiretap's spot, players are recommended to use the Siege Cannons at Command Cavern to launch themselves into the sky and quickly arrive at The Fortress. Again, the quest device must be planted near the ramp on the western side of the massive aircraft.

 

Once Fortnite players complete the challenge and earn their much-deserved XP, they can continue the Week 8 Legendary questline or perhaps search for the latest batch of Alien Artifacts that have appeared on the battle royale map. There are five new artifacts to be found, and each one gives the player some XP and new styles for the alien Kymera skin.
